At the Early Childhood Center, we believe that the teaching staff is the cornerstone for implementing our philosophy. Our teaching staff creates a caring and nurturing atmosphere and fosters each child's creativity and positive self-image.

Teachers

Teachers have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related human service area.

Assistant Teachers

Assistant teachers have an Associate Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

Student Assistants

SIUE students who are studying Early Childhood Education or related human service area may apply to work up to 20 hours through the Student Employment web site.

Practicum Students

The School of Education, Health and Human Behavior Early Childhood Education program provides opportunities for students to accumulate at least 100 hours of pre-student teaching clinical experiences at the ECC.

Student Teachers

The School of Education, Health and Human Behavior Early Childhood students intern at the ECC under the guidance of a Cooperating teacher and University supervisor, gradually assuming the role of a teacher.
