Monday, February 2

Kickoff Celebration

Meridian Ballroom

12:00 p.m. -2:00 p.m.

The Kickoff program will include words from SIUE Chancellor, Julie Furst-Bowe, introductions of minority organization's Presidents, a performance by Zu Zu African Acrobats, and the SIUE Gospel Choir will lead the singing of the Black National Anthem, Lift Every Voice and Sing.

Cougar Craze: Picket Signs for Peace

Stop by and make a poster demonstrating peace with your favorite quote, your own statement, or picture exemplifying that you promote for peace. Signs will be displayed in the Free Speech Zone in the Quad for the month of February. 

SIUE Gospel Choir: Gospel Explosion

Come out and enjoy a night filled with worship and praise through singing with the SIUE Gospel Choir. There will also be performances by SIUE Anointed Mime Ministries and various other artists from the St. Louis Metro Area.

Sankofa with a Twist!

Come out and create your own Sankofa bird on a canvas while enjoying a free mocktail. The Sankofa bird is a symbol in the Ghana culture that means "take what is good from the past, learn from it, and use it to move forward to a brighter future."

Enjoy the lecture about the history of stepping through the years and through the perspective of different cultures as well as its impact on Greek life.

Come hear a motivational lecture about ending violence in today's world by first loving yourself so that you can love your neighbor. Rob Hill Sr. will deliver an inspirational and heart moving lecture about healing the heart and the community from the recent tragedies that have overwhelmed the nation.
