As one of the few select specialized graduate pograms in marketing research nationwide, the master of marketing research (MMR) program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) recognizes that it has responsibilities to the profession , to the community, and most of all, to ambitious students who ar passionate about marketing research. To that end, the SIUE MMR program aims to:

Program Objectives

In order to meet business continuing and emerging needs for marketing research personnel and research services, the MMR faculty stress the importance of a solid foundation upon which to build actionabe skills and marketing research talent. SIUE MMR graduates acquire and master a variety of marketing research skills, and are provided ample oppurtunity to practise these skills in a number of innovative and meaningful ways throughout their time at SIUE. All SIUE MMR graduates are expected to be prepared to aid in marketing desicion making to help address management problems and opportunities. We ensure that all students receive the valuable knowledge and skills that are vital to a successful career in marketing research. Our MMR graduates are able to:

  • Comprehend marketing research processes to define marketing opportunities and problems, help solve management problems, and therefore aid in marketing decision making

  • Plan and design marketing research projects

  • Execute and manage marketing research projects

  • Apply a variety of Marketing research specialities and analytical techniques 
  • Write and prepare a cogent, well-organized research report

  • Communicate research proposals, results, conclusions, and recommendations clearly and effectively

  • Know and understand applications of marketing research specialties and analytical techniques
  • Demonstrate an awareness and knowledge of ethical issues in marketing research and best practices adopted in the industry
