The Management & Marketing Department has eighteen full-time faculty members with diverse educational backgrounds, skills and experience in Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Marketing Research, Law, Economics, Operations Management, and Sociology. The faculty members combine academic expertise with business experience, current business research and consulting activities. This provides a valuable real-world perspective to enhance the academic experience of our students.

Dr. Robyn BerkleyAssociate Professor

Robyn Berkley's research interests are in the areas of diversity, discrimination, and sexual harassment, along with ethics and corporate social responsibility. Her research has been published in scholarly journals such as the Employee Rights and Responsibility Journal, National Womens Studies Association Journal, Journal of Small Business Management, Journal of Business Ethics, and Society and Business Review. Her teaching focus is the area of Human Resources Management where she has taught the Introductory HR course at the Undergraduate level along with classes in Staffing, Training & Development, and Compensation. At the Graduate level, she has taught an HR Skills course for Non-HR Professionals and is responsible for the Decision-Making Course in the new MBA Curriculum. Aside from being asked to serve as a speaker on human resource management issues both on and off campus, she also serves on the editorial board for the Employee Rights and Responsibilities Journal.

Dr. Thomas J. DouglasEmeritus Professor

Tom Douglas joined the SIUE faculty in 2005. He teaches strategic management and entrepreneurship courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level. He has also led the China Travel Study course which spends two weeks in the People's Republic of China each year. His teaching philosophy focuses on the belief that students must not only learn important concepts, but must also experience them. Multiple methods must be used to ensure student understanding of the material and enhance their ability to utilize it. His research interests focus on identifying sources of competitive advantage, understanding the entrepreneurial process, and explaining the effect and evolution of quality improvement practices. Professor Douglas has published his research in scholarly journals including the Academy of Management Journal, the Journal of Management, the Strategic Management Journal, the Journal of Operations Management, the Journal of Business Venturing, the Journal of Business Research, and Decision Sciences. He is on the editorial review board for Corporate Governance: An International Review. In addition, he has extensive industry experience including twenty-five years with AT&T.

Dr. Ralph W. GiacobbeAssociate Professor

Ralph Giacobbe's teaching areas include quantitative business analysis, marketing research, research design methods, buyer behavior, services marketing and marketing strategy. Professor Giacobbe received SIUE's Teaching Recognition Award in 1997 and the Master of Marketing Research Distinguished Teaching Service Award in 2006. His research interest areas include marketing research, marketing ethics, personal selling, and marketing education. He has published in several journals including the Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Marketing Education, Marketing Research, International Journal of Retailing and Distribution, Services Marketing Quarterly, Journal of Professional Services Marketing, and Journal of Business Ethics. Professor Giacobbe has been a longstanding member of several professional societies including the American Marketing Association, the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Midwest Marketing Association.

Edmund Hershberger joined the faculty at SIUE in 2003. He has several years experience in marketing and operations and has been teaching marketing since 1999. Dr. Hershberger's research interests include marketing communications, marketing productivity, and technology's impact on consumer behavior. His teaching interests include Advertising, Marketing Research, and Consumer Behavior. His research has been published in scholarly journals such as the Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Business Research, Marketing Research, Marketing News and the Quarterly Journal of Electronic Commerce. In addition Dr. Hershberger has presented his research at national conferences for the American Marketing Association and the Society for Marketing Advances.

An addition to conducting cross-cultural research on these topics, she teaches in the areas of strategic and international management at SIUE and has conducted international management seminars in Singapore, Hong Kong, and France.

Dr. Sungho Kim Assistant Professor

Sungho Kim's research interests are in the fields of corporate strategy, intra and inter-firm networks, and organization theory. His current research program includes topics such as endogeneity in inter-firm relationships, resource portfolio effects and M&A performances, the impact of inter-firm networks on organizational governance, complex knowledge transfer, and opportunity types and entrepreneurial firm performances. To tackle important phenomenon and problems in those fields and topics, he primary uses the following theoretical lenses: complex adaptive systems (CAS) theory, organizational economics, and social network theory. His studies have been presented at Organization Science Winter Conference, Academy of Management Meetings, and Strategic Management Society. His teaching interests include strategic management, corporate strategy, technology management, and organization theory. Prior to joining SIUE, he taught as an instructor strategic management and international strategy at The Ohio State University. He has four years of work experiences as a consultant and a project manager in IT industry.

Dr. Mary Sue Love Associate Professor

Mary Sue's research interests primarily focus on improving interactions at work, and she has published articles in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Career Development International, Communications of the ACM, International Journal of Management Concepts and Philosophy, Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies, Leadership and Organization Development Journal, and Business Horizons. Before returning to school for her Ph.D., Mary Sue worked in the insurance industry, holding positions in underwriting, provider relations, and customer service. At SIUE, she teaches organizational behavior, leadership, and negotiations. She also offers workshops through the School's Office of Executive Education.

Dr. Ramana Madupalli , Associate Professor & Director of Marketing Research Program

Ram Madupalli is the current Director of the Master of Marketing Research (MMR) Program. Ram Madupalli's research interests include sales management, customer equity, call center management and marketing research. He has been teaching different marketing courses since 2002 and his teaching interests are personal selling and sales management, marketing research, database marketing and product management. Ram has presented papers at the AMA Marketing and Public Policy conference and Marketing Science conference. His research is published in Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Industrial Marketing, Journal of Services Marketing and more. Ram's credentials include best paper award at the 2003 Marketing Public Policy conference and recognition as AMA doctoral consortium candidate. His dissertation titled "Salesperson behavioral determinants of customer equity: an effectiveness approach" is a recipient of AMA dissertation award and Georgia State University dissertation grant. His primary teaching responsibilities in the MMR program covers marketing research methodologies, database marketing and qualitative research. Dr.Madupalli is also the advisor for MMR Alumni Society.

Dr. Tim Ozcan's research interests focus on understanding how consumers respond to branding and positioning strategies, different product designs, product feature combinations and counterfeit products. Dr. Timothy S. Schoenecker , Associate Professor

His primary teaching assignment is in the area of business strategy for both undergraduates and MBA's. He has also taught an introductory course in entrepreneurship at both levels. His primary research interests are in the areas of corporate governance and top management teams. He has published in various journals, such as, Strategic Management Journal, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Organization Science, and Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice. Tim has consulting and corporate training experience at organizations ranging from a small not-for-profit organization to a large multinational publicly-traded firm. He returns to full-time faculty duties in Fall 2008 after serving as the School's interim dean for eighteen months. Prior to that, he served as associate dean for academic affairs for four years.

Madhav Segal served as the Director of the Master of Marketing Research (MMR) program until August 2011, which he founded in 1984. Dr. Segal serves as a Marketing Consultant to a variety of marketing, business, and marketing research service agencies and organizations. He has been an invited speaker on marketing and marketing research topics for many industry, academic associations and trade organizations both in the United States and abroad. He is extensively published in leading marketing and marketing research journals such as Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Business Research, European Journal of marketing, Journal of Advertising, Industrial Marketing Management, California Management Review, Journal of Business Ethics and Marketing Research. Dr. Segal's teaching and research credentials also include several awards for outstanding teaching and scholarly research. He is the recipient of the 1997 Paul Simon Teaching Research Award. This prestigious award recognizes his success in linking his excellence in teaching with research. He has also received the 2000 Great Teacher Award at the university.

George W. Watson received his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech, his M.B.A. from California State at Fullerton, an M.S. in Systems Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, an a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Washington, Seattle. His teaching focus is on corporate social responsibility and ethics. Dr. Watson's current research interests include ethical decision making, moral psychology and ideology. He has published in Business Ethics Quarterly, Business and Society, and the Journal of Business Ethics. He lives with his wife Tracey and their three children in Maryville, Illinois.

Chris J. Winter received her MBA from SIUE and began her academic teaching experience at SIUE in 1990-1992. She was recruited again at SIUE 2005 to teach several Marketing and Management courses. Chris has 30-plus years of professional experience working in several senior marketing/management positions at DMB&B, DIMAC, and Bunn Winter Associates; and managing corporate marketing departments for Anheuser-Busch, Centerre Bank, Central Bank, Commerce Bank, and Bank Star, Inc. She worked on a contractual basis in a senior management position for AT&T supervising and developing numerous consumer and business marketing initiatives. In addition to her teaching at SIUE, Chris runs a consulting business working on management, marketing, strategy, public relations, and new business development for several diversified clients. Chris brings a unique combination of professional experience and academic background to effectively teach a wide array of business courses: Marketing, Management, Consumer Behavior, Advertising and Sales Promotion, Organizational Behavior, Organizational Change, and Strategic Management.

Dr. Yuping ZengAssistant Professor

Yuping Zeng received her Ph.D. from Peking University, China, and did her post-doctoral research program in Ohio State University. Dr. Zeng's research interests include mergers and acquisitions in transitional economies, organizational learning in foreign direct investment, institution transition and firm's strategic response, internationalization of Chinese firm. She has presented papers at the annual meeting of Academy of Management, Academy of International Business, and Strategic Management Society, and has published papers in several Chinese Journals. Dr Zeng' teaches Strategic Management course at the undergraduate level at SIUE.
