A Season for the Child 2015-16

Androcles and the Lion

The Land of the Sweets  performed by Turning Pointe Academy of Dance
With a legendary score by Tchaikovsky, this shortened version of the holiday
classic ballet, The Nutcracker, tells the Christmas Eve tale of a little girl named
Marie who falls asleep after a party at her home and dreams herself (or does
she?) into a fantastic world where toys become larger than life. Her beloved
toy Nutcracker comes to life and defends her from the Mouse King, then is
turned into a Prince after Marie saves his life.

Goldilocks performed by The Imaginary Theatre Company
In this fun new musical take on the well-known tale, Goldilocks learns some
much-needed lessons about friendship and acceptance. Freddy, a bear with
a penchant for science, likes to spend his time exploring the forest with his
friends, at least when they’re not avoiding the troublemaking Goldilocks. She’s
got a habit of tormenting all the woodland creatures, but Freddy and his friends
just might have an idea for an experiment that’ll change her ways.

Rumpelstiltskin, Private Eye performed by Curtains Up Theater Company
When Rumpelstiltskin is framed in a scam involving straw spun into gold, he
must use his wits to clear his name and protect the king from greedy con artists.
In this witty film-noir fairytale spoof, Fairytale Land has been hit by a crime
wave. Although the crimes seem unrelated, could an evil mastermind be behind
them all?  Only hard-boiled detective Rumpelstiltskin and his wise-cracking
partner, Ugly Duckling, can solve this wacky case.  Full of hilarious roles and
snappy one-liners, this private eye parody is pure gold! This play won the
Beverly Hills Theatre Guild/Youth Theatre Competition.
