Dr. Goebl-Parker engages in a variety of international initiatives. She is engaged in collaborative research with Dr. Janis Timm-Bottos, faculty member at the Department of Creative Arts Therapie, Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. Their work involved creating neighborhood open studios in Nelson in British Columbia and Albuquerque, New Mexico in the US. Their have made presentations about the Intersecting Fields of Art Therapy and Community Arts in November 2010 at the American Art Therapy Association. Dr. Dr. Goebl-Parker's goal is to explore and facilitate collaborations between individuals in the fields of art therapy and community arts development. They focus on educating art therapy colleagues about the existing knowledge in and outside of the U.S.
Dr. Goebl-Parker is also the Advisor to Project Bud and a Visiting Community Artist Exchange with Blue Drum in Dublin, Ireland. She has been engaged in the Blue Drum project since 2010. The project allows exchanges where St. Louis artists go to Ireland and visiting artists from Ireland come to St. Louis to showcase mutual exhibitions and events. Project Bud facilitates an artist's exchange to support community arts development work through open studio practice and community art to encourage citizen involvement in a community regeneration project. Project Bud partners with the St. Louis Regional Arts Commission, the St. Louis branch to develop an exchange program to promote community artist exchanges between our regions.
Dr. Dr. Goebl-Parker has received support from organizations such as The Kresge Foundation and The Nathan Cummings Foundation to fund activities such as the 2010 Community Arts Convening, an international conference held at the St. Louis Regional Arts Commission (RAC).
Dr. Goebl-Parker also teaches a community arts course that focuses on diversity issues such as income, social class, etc. She also works with students doing community arts program in Haiti and on Cherokee street. Her goal is to increase multicultural competence in the field of Art Therapy
