A member of the BIRT committee will contact the victim to gather more details and provide support and resources in dealing with the incident. The incident, if warranted, may be referred for further action to other areas of the University (University Police, Dean of Students, or Office of Equal Opportunity, Access & Title IX Coordination).  The BIRT members will also be responsible in deciding if the incident warrants notification of the entire campus community.  All efforts will be made to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, but if additional investigation is required it may prolong prolong the process.
