Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Sociology position beginning in the Fall 2012. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Sociology, but ABDs very near completion will be considered. (If Ph.D. is not completed at the beginning of the contract period, a one year term appointment will be made at the rank of Instructor.) We are interested in candidates with expertise in any area of the sociological study of African American communities. Candidates should also be willing and able to teach a variety of other sociology courses. Duties include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, active scholarship, and service. The department offers undergraduate and graduate majors in Sociology, and undergraduate applied sociology option in Employment Relations, and an undergraduate major in Criminal Justice Studies.
