Our professional staff comprises four advisors who will help you select and pursue a major that best suits your interests and skills.
Our advisors strive to empower you to do your best academically.
1. To be prepared with a specific advisor who will meet with you before each semester to schedule classes. Your advisor will also give you detailed curricular information.
2. To receive thorough explanations about your concerns as a new student at SIUE.
3. To be contacted by your advisor to discuss early progress and mid-term reports that your instructors submit to our office.
4. To receive guidance in personal and financial matters that affect your academic performance.
5. To receive tutorial support in courses where you may need help.
6. To gain exposure to cultural enrichment activities by attending events arranged through SOAR.
Generally, we begin making appointments for SOAR students the third week of the semester. We then begin advising for SOAR students the fourth week. If you wish to make an appointment, please use Advisortrac.
Walk-in times are Monday through Thursday, 10:00-10:30 A.M. and 2:00-2:30 P.M. Walk-in times are designed for students to bring quick questions to their advisor and no appointment is necessary. Students are taken on a first come, first served basis. If you have to add or drop a class, or have an issue that may take some time to resolve, you need to make an appointment with your advisor at our front desk (Peck Hall, Room 1313) in person.
