LTC David A. Motes
Professor of Military Science
LTC Motes was an Army ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate from University of Missouri, St. Louis in 1993. He was commissioned in the Quartermaster Corps as a Regular Army officer. Since his commissioning, LTC Motes has served tours of duty in South Korea (twice), Fort Jackson, Fort Bragg, Fort Campbell (twice), Jefferson Barracks, and Scott AFB. His duty positions include: Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Battalion S3, Brigade Adjutant, Battalion S4, Battalion S2/3, Deputy Support Operations Officer, Company Commander (twice), Support Operations Officer, Military Advisor, Brigade Combat Team S4, Joint Petroleum Officer, Joint Mobility Operations Officer, and Executive Assistant.
His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal (4 awards), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 awards), Army Commendation Medal (4 awards), Joint Service Achievement Medal (2 awards), Army Achievement Medal (2 awards). He also earned the Combat Action Badge, Air Assault Badge, Parachutist Badge, and Parachute Rigger Badge.
LTC Motes has deployed once in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM and three times in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM.
LTC Motes is a graduate of the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course, the Combined Logistics Officer Advanced Course, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the Petroleum Officer Course, the Command and General Staff College, and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School. His education includes a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and a Master’s degree in Business from Webster University.
LTC Motes is married to the former Sarah Johnson of St. Charles, Missouri, and they have one daughter (Molly). LTC Motes is originally from St. Louis, Missouri.
