In order to develop cultural competence and linguistic skills in future officers, ROTC cadets may participate in a variety of cross-cultural opportunities such as a foreign study/off-campus internship.
As incentive for pursuing studies in foreign languages, ROTC cadets may receive bonus pay for languages considered critical to the Army, such as Chinese and Arabic. Cadets may receive $250 per credit hour to a maximum of $3,000 per academic year.
