Hello new friends at SIUE! My name is Julie McCourt and I am so delighted to accept this position as Director of Campus Ministry at SIUE.
My hometown is Toledo, Ohio where my parents, two younger brothers and their young families still currently live. I attended The University of Toledo for undergrad where I majored in Religious Studies and was very active in the Newman Center, holding various leadership positions during my four years of study. Following college, I served for a year as the Ministry Assistant at the Newman Center and then moved to Chicago to complete a Masters degree in Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago where I served as a Campus Ministry Graduate Intern for two years. In 2009, I accepted a position as a Campus Minister at Saint Louis University where I worked in Residence Hall ministry and worked closely with the immersion program, retreat program and small faith sharing group program. That same year I also married my best friend, Mike and we settled into our lives together in the St. Louis area. We are oh-so-blessed to be raising our sons, Riley (4.5) and Hudson (3.5) and a 10 month old Goldendoodle, Wrigley.
I love to camp with our littles, crochet like an old Grandma, and pretend to love running. I am also in love with guacamole, good conversations over a cup of coffee and Ignatian Spirituality. Hummingbirds serve as one of my images of God and continue to remind me to delight in the present moment and live joyfully.
I cannot express enough how I grateful I feel to enter into the SIUE Newman Catholic Community and I am so excited to more deeply integrate my vocations to marriage, motherhood and ministry.
My name is James Hinderks; I grew up for most of my life in Bloomington, IL. I attended St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA where I majored in Theology with minors in Classical Studies and Ancient Western Civilization. As an undergrad I was actively involved with SAU's campus ministry and fell in love with all that it offered me and my fellow students. In addition I held many leadership positions from being a Resident Advisor to an Executive Committee member for our Campus Activities Board. After graduating from St. Ambrose I began my M.A. /PhD in Theology/Health Care Ethics through the Aquinas Institute of Theology and St. Louis University.
I truly feel blessed to have this opportunity to minister to the campus community at SIUE. I have a deep love and devotion for theology, liturgy, and ministry, and I hope to carry that forward with you all.
