CCM Activities

Catholic Newman Student Union (CNSU) - Be a part of the Catholic students on campus and enjoy many activities throughout the school year: spring break trips, field trips, Habitat for Humanity, dinners, movies, game nights, Christmas parties, ice cream socials, etc.  Meetings are at the Religious Center during Fall and Spring semesters.  Wednesdays this year at 7:00 PM.  Contact us at siue.cnsu@gmail.com
Game nights
Movie nights
Spring Formals - April 5, 2008 - 7 PM at the Religious Center
Catholic Bible Study (CBibs) - Thursday nights at the Religious Center - FREE dinners served at 6:00 PM, discussions at 7:00.  Contact Sr. Claudia at 650-3205 for more details.   Retreats - Provide an opportunity to get away from it all, meet new people and grow closer to God.
Weekend Gatherings (1 or 2 nights)
Field Trips - Several different field trips are taken throughout each semester.  One of the most popular trips is to the St. Louis Cardinal baseball games.  Other trips to St. Louis and the surrounding area are also taken.  Join our group each semester for a fun-filled day.
Alternative Spring Break - Come with us as we journey to Juarez Mexico.  Immersion experience (live with a Mexican family for 3 nights and work alongside them during the day). This is a great way to serve God by serving others and have a great time while meeting new people and sharing on a faith journey.
Liturgy Committee & Liturgical Ministries - The Liturgy Committee plans the various liturgies that are held at the Religious Center.  We are always in need of lectors, Eucharistic ministers, greeters, choir members, musicians, artists, dancers and volunteers for our ministry to children and education prior to  Mass.  Let us know if you would like to be part of this team.
Free Food - Free food is offered after every Liturgy event.
Faith Sharing Groups- Provide an alternative form of community building, an atmosphere of trust and acceptance where people share the experiences of life in light of what it means to be a Catholic today.  These groups will be formed upon request.
Individual & Group Spiritual Direction - Available upon request.  Spiritual direction offers encouragement, companionship and growth for those who are searching for a deeper relationship with God.  Participants usually meet once a month for about 45 minutes to an hour.
R.C.I.A. (pictures) - The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is an opportunity for those who are considering becoming a Catholic to learn about Catholicism and the Catholic faith.  Our program is designed to fit the academic calendar. We begin our "journey" in September, and at Easter we celebrate Baptism, First Eucharist and Confirmation.  This time schedule is flexible.
Marriage Preparation & Preparation for Infant Baptism - Available by appointment
Special Liturgies - Mass for Parents - Ash Wednesday Mass with Bishop Lucas - Memorial Service for NIU
Social Justice and Service
Habitat for Humanity -  Haunt For Hunger
-  Giving Tree - Heifer Project
Keep your eyes and ears open for many more activities!
