The Center for Spirituality & Sustainability at SIUE began sustainable gardening around the center in the spring of 2009. The Catholic Newman Student Union wanted to celebrate Earth Day by planting a Butterfly garden and a tree to honor their campus minister Sr. Claudia Calzetta.
At the Center we also planted an herb garden that is located near the front entrance and landscaped the front of the building using all perennials that are butterfly and bee friendly.
