Urban Studies Minor Now Available

SIUE a Top 15 Midwest Regional Public University

U.S. News & World Report ranks SIUE among the best Regional Universities Midwest for the 13th consecutive year and among the top 15 public universities in that category.  SIUE is also rated among the top Midwest Regionals for least amount of student debt upon graduation. SIUE Welcomes Students for Fall 2016

SIUE welcomes students to campus today for fall 2016.

University Housing’s Move-In Day will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. today at Bluff, Prairie and Woodland residence halls.

A convocation for new SIUE students will be held at noon Friday, Aug. 19 in the Vadalabene Center. SIUE’s fifth annual Cougar Kick-Off is planned later from 6-10 p.m. Friday in the Korte Stadium.

SIUE School of Nursing’s Bernaix to Pioneer Creative Curriculum and Expand Area Partnerships

SIUE's School of Nursing continues to educate and prepare nurses to be expert clinicians and healthcare leaders. As dean of the School, Laura Bernaix, PhD, RN, intends to expand opportunities for SIUE School of Nursing students by way of inventive curriculum development and strong clinical partnerships.

Bernaix is an alum of the School, and has been a valued faculty member and administrator since 1987. She assumed the role of dean in May, after having served as interim dean since June 2014.

SIUE Lands Among Forbes Magazine's Top Colleges

SIUE is among the top four public universities in the state according to Forbes magazine’s top colleges ranking. Forbes ranked 660 institutions nationally, but only the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, University of Illinois-Chicago and Illinois State University were listed ahead of SIUE instate. SIUE Athletics 10 years with 3.0 GPA

May 23, 2016

Academic and athletic excellence continue to go hand in hand for SIUE Athletics as its student-athletes have now achieved 20 consecutive semesters with a 3.0 grade point average.

Completing its 10th straight year of department-wide grade point averages of better than 3.0, SIUE Athletics completed the spring 2016 semester with a 3.252 GPA.

Giant Sunspot Dazzles SIUE Community

May 20, 2016

Members of the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville community gathered around two telescopes and donned special filtered glasses on Thursday, May 19 to view sunspot #2546. The sunspot is nearly three times the size of Earth, and remained visible for approximately five to seven days. The viweing was held by members of the Department of Phytsics.
