SIUE Partners with Lewis & Clark for Nursing Degree Track

The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) School of Nursing (SON) and Lewis and Clark Community College (L&C) have announced a new partnership. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree track enables community college students to rapidly achieve their baccalaureate degree from the SON after attending Lewis and Clark to complete an associate degree and the majority of the general education requirements.

SIUE Boasts All-Time Record Student Enrollment

September 09, 2015

SIUE has exceeded its previous record student enrollment by a two percent increase over last year. The University registered an all-time high of 14,265 students for the fall 2015 semester. Overall enrollment leaped by 293 students.

Undergraduate registration is the highest it's ever been at 11,781, which is a three percent jump (360 students) from last fall, a five percent rise (552 students) from fall 2013 and eight percent growth (821 students) from more than a decade ago.

Volleyball Earns AVCA Academic Award

The SIUE volleyball program is among the national recipients of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 season.

SIUE's Phi Kappa Phi Chapter Awarded with “Little Free Library” For East St. Louis Head Start Center

SIUE’s Phi Kappa Phi chapter has been awarded a “Little Free Library” for its participation in the Spring 2015 Phi Kappa Phi Book Drive. The chapter was among the top three winners, having collected 2,873 new and gently used children’s books from the SIUE and Edwardsville communities for the children of the Head Start program. Women’s tennis standout Haley Ilcewicz became the first student-athlete at SIUE to complete her athletic eligibility while enrolled in the School of Pharmacy.

HLC Continues Accreditation for SIUE

The North Central Association’s (NCA) Higher Learning Commission (HLC) has notified Southern Illinois University Edwardsville of its continued accreditation. SIUE is scheduled for its next reaffirmation review in 2022-2023 and will continue its accreditation relationship with the Higher Learning Commission.

The final decision by the Institutional Actions Council was made March 9 and was officially delivered to SIUE Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe on March 16.

School of Nursing to Offer Doctorate for Family Nurse Practitioners

The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Nursing has announced that the family nurse practitioner master’s program will transition to a doctor of nursing practice with a family nurse practitioner specialization (FNP DNP) beginning in August 2015.

Last week, a collaboration between SIUE professor Darron Luesse, Ohio University professor Sarah Wyatt and NASA launched about 18,000 plant seeds into space.
