Students Present Ghana Travel Study Program Experiences

November 14, 2014

Students presenting about their experience in Ghana

On Thursday, students who participated in this past summer’s Ghana travel study program had the chance to present their experiences working with non-profit health organizations and hospitals in Ghana to the SIUE community. Seven students traveled with health education instructor Faustina Blankson to the city of Takoradi, where they experienced an engaging, collaborative, hands-on approach to understanding and investigating health-related issues in developing societies throughout a five week program. This travel study program presents an opportunity for students interested in international health to fulfill their program requirements of internship and service learning, and the students’ presentations are part of the program evaluation. The presentations reflected the learning goals of the program and gave the students the opportunity to share their experiences from educational excursions.

The students who participated in the summer 2014 program are as follows: Genesis, Victoria Appiah, Sarah Oswalt, Brittany Kaiser, Folashade Saliu, Adeola Busari, and Mavis Aboagye. All are majoring in health related fields.
