University Center of Lake County Adds SIUE Programs

SIUE has joined The University Center of Lake County consortium of 20 member institutions. SIUE will contribute three programs to the consortium, which now offers more than 120 programs leading to bachelor’s degrees, graduate degrees or professional certificates.

The 36-credit hour Master of Science in Education in Instructional Technology offers three areas of emphasis:

Fall Commencement Ceremonies

Saturday signaled the end of the semester at SIUE as 1,159 eligible graduates received their degrees. The 2014 Fall Commencement ceremonies were held at the Vadalabene center on campus, and Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe oversaw the festivities and focused on SIUE’s commitment to diversity and inclusion during her remarks.

Students Present Ghana Travel Study Program Experiences

SIUE Engineering Students Runner-up at National Competition

SIUE School of Engineering students traveled to Downer’s Grove in mid-October to participate in the annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Region 3 Student Competition. The SIUE Preconstruction Team placed second out of 11 teams. Team members included: Zach Carlson, Zach Coon, George Justice, Chad Kolmer, Mason Musick and Chrissy Rafferty.

SIUE's Office of International Affairs Moves to Provost's Oversight

The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees approved the renaming of SIUE’s Office of International Student and Scholar Services to the Office of International Affairs. New 2+2 Agreement Developed between SIUE and Shenyang Aerospace University

2+2 Agreement with SAU 

On October 28, 2014, SIUE Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe signed an agreement with China’s Shenyang Aerospace University (SAU) to collaborate on 2+2 programs in the areas of mechanical engineering, computer science, and electrical engineering. SIUE Partners with SSM Health Care to Offer Accelerated, Online RN to BS Program to Nurses Working in the Industry

Beginning January 2015, the SIUE School of Nursing will offer an online, accelerated RN to BS in nursing degree to SSM Health Care nurses. This online program is the first of its kind for the health system and will be available to SSM nurses from Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma. U.S. Department of Labor Awards Nearly $10-Million Grant

The Department of Labor has awarded a grant worth $9,956,011 to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and the Building Illinois’ Bioeconomy (BIB) consortium as part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) initiative.
