In compliance with the Volunteer Emergency Worker Higher Education Protection Act (110ILCS122/10), any SIUE student who is a volunteer emergency worker shall be afforded reasonable accommodation in regard to absence from class caused by the performance of his or her duties as a volunteer emergency worker. SIUE's current Student Grievance Code provides all students with a grievance procedure by which a student who believes that he or she has been unreasonably denied this accommodation, or any other, may seek redress.
