Numbering of Courses Carrying Academic Credit and Use of Course Numbers - 1C12

Courses carrying academic credit for any student must be numbered 100 and above. Departments offering courses which carry academic credit for all students but credit which may vary in meeting major requirements must note the specific nature of the variance in the printed catalog description.

A course number may not be re-used within any five-year period. Re-use of course numbers includes the following:

1. The assignment to a course of a number that has been previously discontinued.
   
   
2. The modification of a course (description, content, credit hours, etc.) to such a degree that the modified course cannot be equated with the course prior to modification. In this case, the resulting course number is not an accurate reflection of the course as it existed prior to the modification, and a new number must be assigned to what is actually a new course.
