Inservice for Schools
PBWP offers tailor-made professional development programs to our local schools
and districts in all areas literacy and writing related across all subjects. We meet with school administrators and teachers to determine needs, then build upon their strengths to plan and deliver overtime sessions where teachers explore 'hands-on' writing processes, strategies and approaches to implement in their classrooms.
Professional develop foci can include but not limited to:
- English Language Learners and Specially Designed Academic Instruction in English:
- The Writing Workshop, establishing and maintaining it in a literacy rich classroom (for beginners and experts);
- Building a Professional Learning Community at your school, focused on teacher-expertise and supporting you to carefully examine your teaching practice over time cultivating your intellectual growth.
- Reading Workshop as a way to organize and maintain a balanced language arts program, where writing and reading go hand-in-hand;
- Writing as a tool for learning in the social studies and sciences;
- The Book Club approach to cultivating a literate classroom community where students not only learn to read and write, but become engaged readers and writers;
