Speed Networking Events for SIUE Researchers: Health-Related Research

Practice your 3-minute “elevator speech” as you participate in a fast-paced, fun event meant to expose you to the excellent research on campus and inspire you to establish new, productive relationships. Researchers will share their topics in an accelerated fashion with a group of researchers sharing similar interests.

Health-related Research:

Human health and well-being is tied to all areas of human living. Health researchers are interested in the factors and agents that affect the way we are able to physically and emotionally function. They explore how we interact with our own health and wellness, taking into account health policies, interventions, tools, medications, and patient education.

Aminata Cairo: HIV/AIDS experiences in Suriname; Safe health care for transgender populations

Michelle Cathorall: Risk perception and unintentional injuries, especially related to school and recreational sports; Worksite health promotion including disease management

Lindsay Ross-Stewart: the effect of exercise imagery on the self-efficacy and exercise behavior on a non-exercising population; The relationship between imagery, self-efficacy and athletic performance; The effect of an imagery education program on exercise adoption and adherence
