Professional Background

How long have you been doing what you do?

I started advising in January, 2017 here at SIUE.

How long have you been at SIUE?

About 5 years. However, most of those years were spent as an undergrad and grad student!

How did you get here?

I came to SIUE as a transfer student after I completed my associates degree at Rock Valley College. I immediately fell in love with the campus and obviously haven’t left since.

What are you most passionate about professionally?

Students. I have worked all over SIUE’s campus and I can not get enough of student interaction. Whether it be a simple conversation or something more constructive.

What do you love most about working at SIUE?

The community. Even before I was hired on as a professional, I loved every aspect of SIUE’s warm and welcoming community.

What are your primary duties in your current position?

Advise our lovely undergraduate students on what courses they need to be taking, answering any questions or concerns a student may have, and making sure their time here at SIUE is worthwhile.

Where can we find you when you’re not working?

Hanging out with my hubby and puppy Laci! Going to baseball games, going for walks or cooking.

Where did you grow up?
Machesney Park, IL. I’m a northern girl at heart. Let’s go Hawks!

Any volunteer activities you’re crazy about? Any non-profits you love?

Granite City breakfast, Project Homeless Connect , and Red Cross are some volunteer opportunities that I have been involved with over the past couple of years. All of these organizations take a special interest in the homeless, where a lot of my passion is for volunteer work!

Awards and Accolades

My first year as a grad assistant, I received an award for Excellence in Service to Students from The National Society of Leadership and Success. I felt so honored!

Anything else you'd like to tell people about yourself?

Not only am I a huge Blackhawks fan but I also love my 2016 World Series Champs… the Chicago Cubbies!
