Admissions Requirements
In addition to the University’s requirements for admission (application, application fee, and official academic transcripts which meet the University’s minimum requirements), the School of Nursing admission decisions are based upon the following:
- The completed School of Nursing application (attached to email from Graduate Admissions)
- Three positive references and reference forms (one reference should be from your current manager, and two others preferably from nurses holding graduate degrees)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Master of Science in Nursing for Post-Master's applicants) from a CCNE or NLNAC accredited program.
- Unencumbered Missouri & Illinois licensure
- Minimum Undergraduate (Graduate for Post-Master's applicants) Nursing GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Preferred minimum Undergraduate (Graduate for Post-Master's applicants) Science GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Preferred minimum overall Undergraduate (Graduate for Post-Master's applicants) GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Evidence of completion of an undergraduate statistics course with a grade of C or better.
- A written statement of "Goals and Objectives" related to the reasons for pursuing a graduate degree.
- At least one year of recent, adult intensive critical care experience
- Completion of an undergraduate course in organic or biochemistry and physics no more than 6 years prior to entering the program of study.
- Successful completion of an application interview, if invited.
- Successful completion of a drug screen and a criminal background check, as specified by the School of Nursing, to be performed after initial acceptance to the program.
Exit Requirements
Master's students must successfully complete all course work, a terminal project, and participate in an exit interview conducted by faculty. Post-master's students do not have to complete a terminal project but must complete all course work and participate in an exit interview.
Application Deadline
Students are admitted into the NA specialization in summer semesters only. The application deadline is June 1 for the class entering the following summer. Upon acceptance, a non-refundable advance deposit fee of $500 is required (applied toward future tuition).
