What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is simply an online channel of information.
Usually an RSS channel will contain a list of headlines and short descriptions
with a link to the story on an originating Web Site. You subscribe to an RSS
channel through feed readers or aggregators. There are many different feed
readers that are used to handle RSS. The feed readers aggregate
your RSS subscriptions so you can get your news from various Web Sites in one place.
Why RSS for SIUE news?
As SIUE Public Affairs sends out a story to the media, that story will be fed
directly to the RSS, so that any SIUE news RSS subscriber will immediately be
able to read the media releases that are sent out. You will be one of the first to
see what is happening at SIUE.
