SIUE’s nurse anesthesia program is off to another big year. While we are proud of our recent accomplishments, we are certainly not planning to maintain the “status quo.” The dynamics of higher learning, nurse anesthesia and our health care system demand an ever changing approach when considering CRNA education. So, what is new for 2013? 
Paul A. Darr, MSN, CRNA, APN, FAAPM & assistant director of the nurse anesthesia program for the SIUE School of Nursing, spoke at the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists' Jack Neary Advanced Pain Management Educational Seminar in October 2012. This educational experience is offered annually for qualified Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) practitioners who wish to become more educated and skilled in providing chronic pain management procedures for their patients.

The Difficult Airway Training Day took place on November 26, 2012. This annual program offers CRNA students the opportunity to receive a higher level of advanced airway training. Students revisit the phases they learned in basic airway lessons and build upon them with many types of advanced airways systems... 
SIUE School of Nursing Gala
Practicing nursing in a rural setting is something that Casey Griffith holds near and dear to his heart. Casey grew up in the small town of Carrollton, Ill. and now lives in Mount Carmel, Ill. with his wife. A double alumnus, he earned his bachelor of science degree in nursing from SIUE in 2003 and his master of science degree in nurse anesthesia in 2007.
