• Master of Science, Health Care & Nursing Administration (HCNA) Specialization
• Post-Master's Certificate, Health Care & Nursing Administration Specialization
Teacher Certification: Students who complete this program are eligible for certification as school psychologists in Illinois.
The Health Care & Nursing Administration specialization prepares nurses with a bachelor's degree in nursing for leadership positions in health care organizations and in other diverse settings.
The SIUE Health Care & Nursing Administration specialization prepares nurses for entry into management positions in health care organizations, as well as further refining the skills of experienced nurse managers to mentor them for executive level positions. The courses assist graduates to become credentialed nurse executives through exams sponsored by organizations such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Organization of Nurse Executives Credentialing Center, with appropriate work experience in an administrative role. To facilitate learners' access to HCNA education, the program is offered online with periodic visits to the Edwardsville campus.
There is high demand for qualified nurse managers and executives in expanding health care systems that require strong nursing leadership. Health care organizations seeking or holding Magnet® status require nurse leaders with graduate preparation. Nurse leaders are also sought for positions in health care consulting, the insurance industry, government agencies, and other organizations.
The application process begins by submitting the SIUE graduate application found at: www.siue.edu/apply. Once the application has been submitted, the applicant will receive an email from Graduate Admissions within 2-3 business days which will detail the application process. A list of the requirements for the School of Nursing will be included in the email, and all required forms will be attached. The required forms include: a School of Nursing application, a Reference form (to be completed for each reference), and a Goals & Objectives Statement form. They can also be found to the left under Forms. All application materials must be sent directly to Graduate Admissions. Contact Tina Noto, graduate adviser, at (618) 650-3930 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
