School of Nursing Achieves Largest Enrollment in History

The School of Nursing is celebrating a historic milestone as its fall 2019 enrollment has reached an all-time high with 1,778 students. 

The School’s enrollment features a 17 percent increase (54 students) in master’s and doctoral level candidates, totaling 374 students. The total does not include an additional 30 undeclared graduate students, who are taking nursing classes. Its undergraduate enrollment saw a 2 percent increase (27 students), totaling 1,404. The School's Class of 2023 comprises 173 outstanding students with an average admission GPA of 3.358 (3.000 minimum) and an ACT of 24.

Online Nurse Educator Graduate Program Ranked Most Affordable in Illinois, #5 in Nation

The School of Nursing is nationally recognized for its affordable, competitive and high-quality online nurse educator master’s program. The School’s program ranks #1 in Illinois and #5 in the nation for affordability, according to Affordable Schools’ list of 25 Best Affordable Master’s of Nursing Education Online Degrees 2019.

Affordable Schools’ ranking methodology considered average cost of attendance, student-to-faculty ratio, and U.S. News and World Report’s college ranking.

School of Nursing Program #6 Nationally

The School of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program has been ranked sixth nationally by registeredNursing.org, a nursing advocacy organization. DNP programs were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students during school, towards licensure and beyond.

Dr. Cheryl Killion Inducted to Alumni Hall of Fame

On Friday, Sept. 27, eight remarkable graduates were honored at the 2019 SIUE Alumni Hall of Fame ceremony, “A Night Among the Stars." 

Among the honorees is Dr. Cheryl Killion, nurse and medical anthropologist. The focus of her research, teaching and service has been to prevent and eliminate health inequities.

School of Nursing Hosts Rep. Rodney Davis

The School of Nursing hosted U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (IL-13th District) on Monday, June 18. Davis toured the School’s facilities in Alumni Hall, watched one of the simulation scenarios in the School's simulation lab, and spoke with students and faculty.

Davis expressed his dedication to addressing the nursing shortages in Illinois and encouraged the School to continue to do all it can to reverse those trends.
