U.S. News Ranks Online Programs Among the Best

The School of Nursing’s RN to BS program jumped 43 percent in the U.S. News & World Report annual ranking of top online bachelor’s programs. In its 2017 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs list, U.S. News ranked the program 68th among 311 schools nationally, placing it among the top five online bachelor’s programs in Illinois.

Health Informatics Program Among Nation’s Top 25

SIUE's online master’s in healthcare informatics program has been ranked among the nation’s top 25 by bestcolleges.com. The ranking criteria included academic quality, affordability and online programming. 

Healthcare informatics professionals integrate the worlds of medicine and technology by combining their expertise in data management, patient care and information technology systems.

School of Nursing Explores Global Medical Mission Opportunities

Two School of Nursing faculty members traveled to Haiti in November on separate trips, but with a shared goal of providing primary care and helping meet the basic healthcare needs of local individuals. Dr. Valerie Griffin’s and Chontay McKay’s experiences are also setting the groundwork for leading SON students on future medical mission trips.

Hybrid Learning, Global Experiences Shape School of Nursing Student’s Success

Deborah Horton was recognized during SIUE’s commencement ceremony in December, having earned a master’s in the family nurse practitioner program. While in the program, she took advantage of a hybrid learning curriculum that featured classes held on campus, online and via a satellite classroom in Springfield. She also pursued a global travel opportunity to complete her degree and enhance her knowledge and skillset.

School of Nursing Impacts University Enrollment

SIUE's spring enrollment of 13,276 students is the second-largest spring enrollment in the University’s history. The largest enrollment increase being realized is in the School of Nursing's undergraduate programs, particularly through the online RN to BS program, which continues to attract a great deal of interest.
