Students interested in applying for the Research Grant for Graduate Students (RGGS):

Dr. Pryor will host a workshop Thursday, October 5th from 3-4 pm in the Graduate School conference room. Please mark your calendar to attend if you are interested in applying for RGGS funding.  For more information about the grant, please visit our website.  http://www.siue.edu/graduate-students/awards/research-grants.shtml

If you have any questions about the grant or workshop, please contact Daleana Wylde dwylde@siue.edu or 618-650-3010.

Open House - Calling Volunteers!

The SIUE Graduate School Open House will be Wednesday, October 18 in the Meridian Ballroom 11am-1pm and 5pm-7pm.

Students will find out about SIUE's 100+ master's programs, post-baccalaureate certificates, specialist degrees and doctoral degrees.  Students who attend the Open House will have the $40 Graduate School application fee waived.

We need your help!  We would like to have current graduate students in attendance at our "Ask a Grad" area.  You would attend the entire session (or both!) and be available to speak about your experience at SIUE.  This is your time to recruit new students!  If you are interested in attending, please email Tessa Keys at tlockha@siue.edu.

Safe Zone training

Fall 2017 Safe Zone Ally Training

This fall Safe Zone will be offering Ally Training for students on Friday, October 13th from 1:00-3:00pm. The goal of training is to provide attendees skills and understanding for supporting the LGBTQIA community.  You must pre-register to attend this training.  Space is limited, so sign up now!

Students register at:  https://goo.gl/forms/UNJGdCYWlp63OrHP2

What is Safe Zone?

Safe Zone is a community of people who:

  • Will be understanding, supportive, and trustworthy if LGBTQIA people need help, advice, or just someone to talk to.
  • Will not tolerate homophobic, heterosexist, cisgenderism comments and actions but will address them in an educational and informative manner.
  • Have attended Safe Zone training and have information on campus and community resources.

Mission and Goals of Safe Zone:

Safe Zone's mission at SIUE is to develop a campus community of allies and provide support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and ally (LGBTQIA) students, faculty, and staff with the ultimate goal of developing SIUE as a safe and welcoming place for LGBTQIA people.

If you have any questions please contact Dr. Shelley Price-Williams at shewill@siue.edu

GA Orientation on BB

All current Graduate Assistants have access to Graduate Assistant Orientation on Blackboard.  Here, you will find general information for all GA's as well as some specific resources for Teaching Assistants and Research Assistants.  If you have not yet done so already, check out the site and important information you need to know as a GA.

New Thesis Webpage

The thesis webpages received a makeover.  These webpages should help you meet deadlines while following our guidelines.  You'll find some useful resources and instructions for submission.

Although the thesis workshops have already taken place this semester, you can contact Christina cmcguig@siue.edu or Daleana dwylde@siue.edu with questions anytime.

NVivo Webinar

NVivo software assists in the organization and analysis of qualitative or “unstructured” data such as interviews, open-ended survey responses, field observations, photos, Web/social media content, and news articles, helping researchers to make connections among and derive meaning from a wide variety of information sources.  The STEM Center has organized a free webinar about Nvivo 11 on Monday, October 16 2:30 – 3:30.  Register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/5184736471043020802.
