Reed Appointed SIUE Asst. Director of Financial Analysis

SIUE has named Mike Reed as assistant director of financial analysis in the Office of Financial Affairs.  Reed is assuming the duties of Paula Birke, who has moved into the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Office as the director of business operations.

“We are grateful to Paula, an exceptional financial manager, for her 13 years of service,” said Dave Heth, SIUE director of financial affairs. “Mike and hard work are well-acquainted. He has developed strong technical skills to supplement his outstanding financial and interpersonal skills.”

Reed has served SIUE for 21 years in Payroll, Transportation and Facilities Management. He implemented the facilities job cost system, a new utilities billing system, and the transportation billing and accounting system. His new responsibilities include developing bond models, coordinating the annual fee review process, reviewing all requests for changes to other fees, forecasting fee and tuition revenue, performing variance analyses for the SIU Board of Trustees, and assisting with RAMP and the operating budget.

“On behalf of Bill Winter (SIUE budget director), we want to thank everyone who so generously gave their time and effort to the interview process,” Heth said. “We are particularly grateful to fellow search committee members Tony Martin and Shavonda Mitchom for their tireless work on SIUE’s behalf.”
