Chandler Vandenberg is New School of Engineering Director of Development

Dear Colleagues,

Please join me in welcoming the newest member of our School of Engineering team. On Tuesday, Aug. 1, Chandler Vandenberg will join the School of Engineering in the role of Director of Development to help lead the School’s fundraising efforts.

Chandler earned his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in 2007 and graduated with an MBA from SIUE in May of 2017. He began his career in fundraising for his alma mater during his undergrad, which then led to consulting and assisting several other universities’ fundraising efforts.

He has worked in the SIUE Office of University Advancement for the last five years, first as the assistant director of Annual Giving Programs and then as director of development for the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior. While there, in collaboration with the Dean, they jump-started development efforts within the school helping negotiate two of the largest gifts the school has ever received, including a 500k endowment and a 50k naming opportunity.

Chandler has more than 14 years of experience in higher education fundraising and is excited to utilize that experience to benefit the School of Engineering’s fundraising goals.

Career Development Center Collecting Professional Attire Donations

Each year we have students that are in need of professional attire for interviews, career fairs, networking events and practicum/co-op/internship experiences.

Unfortunately, not all students have the resources to obtain the appropriate attire for these occasions. This can decrease students’ opportunities and self-esteem.

You can help! Ready to do a little cleaning in your closet?

The Career Development Center is planning to take donations of professional attire items through Aug. 4 in preparation for its fall 2017 recruiting season.

It will host the second Cougar Career Closet event on Tuesday, Sept. 12 to provide students with lightly worn professional attire.
