Campus Kitchen SIUE Raise the Dough Campaign Begins Today

The Campus Kitchen at SIUE is competing with 25 other Campus Kitchens across the country to see which campus can “raise the most dough” in the Campus Kitchens Project “Raise the Dough” fundraiser.

The competition starts today and runs through Friday, Feb. 24.  

The Campus Kitchen at SIUE relies solely on monetary and in-kind donations to continue fighting hunger in the St. Louis Metro area and we need you to help us!

Attend Today's IRIS Center Brown Bag Discussion

The IRIS Center at SIUE is pleased to offer three additional Friday afternoon "brown bag" discussions and hands-on tutorials.

These are intended to bring in new users (faculty and students alike) to interesting and useful digital tools that can be incorporated into teaching and research. No prior experience is required! If you like, you can bring your own laptop and follow along.

Close out the Week with Random Acts of Kindness

iCare and Student Government closes out the Random Acts of Kindness Week with event tables.

Why? Random acts of kindness encourage people to brighten another person's day by doing something kind, thoughtful, and caring. Practicing random acts of kindness daily has the power to change someone's life for the better, and even your own.

How? Stop by an event table to learn about ways to incorporate random acts of kindness into your life. Participants will be able to write letters to loved ones and/or write a kind or inspirational message on a clothespin to clip onto someone's backpack. Resources will also be available.

Today is the Last Day for Students to Participate in the Kognito Challenge

Students are on the front line of recognizing distress among their peers. SIUE has an online training simulation that will assist students to better identify, support, and refer stressed friends to support services on campus. 

Students can complete Kognito training for FREE, print a certificate of completion and bring it to the iCare table to choose a free prize.

Dance Marathon to Help Sick Children, Feb. 18

The students of Dance Marathon of SIUE challenge everyone to donate $5. Your money will help children at Greater St. Louis Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to receive the best treatments and care available.

To donate, please visit dancemarathon. The marathon will begin at noon, Saturday, Feb. 18 in the Morris University Center Meridian Ballroom.

Record Number of Students to Attend Preview SIUE, Feb. 20

The Office of Admissions, in partnership with the SIUE community, will host Preview SIUE Monday, Feb. 20 and Friday, March 17

Nearly 400 students are registered to attend these annual spring visit days and explore the many opportunities at SIUE. This expected attendance makes these spring Preview events the largest in SIUE history! 

Preview SIUE begins at 10 a.m. in the Morris University Center and continues throughout the day. Many guests will be on campus until 3 p.m. Please know that the MUC will be quite busy during the day, especially during lunch. 

Please join the Office of Admissions in welcoming these guests. Let’s show them the excitement of the SIUE campus and help them see why SIUE can be their future home to achieve their educational goals.

Nominate a Phenomenal Woman by Feb. 20

The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion invites you to nominate a Phenomenal Woman at SIUE or in the community. Nominations must be received no later than Monday, Feb. 20, and awardees will be notified by Thursday, March 3. 

The awardee and the nominator will be invited to attend the third annual Phenomenal Women's Luncheon during Women’s History Month:

Friends of Theater and Dance Dinner Theater, Reservations Due by Feb. 21

The Friends of Theater and Dance  will present the Dinner Theater, "Dinner for Fourteen"

Alumni of SIUE’s Department of Theater and Dance will share their talent at this year’s FOTAD dinner theater.

The comedy “Dinner for Fourteen," along with additional acting scenes, will be staged at the event.

Tickets include a meal with two dining options and the performance.

General admission tickets are $45, with a $5 discount for FOTAD members and guest.

Tuesday, Feb. 21 is the deadline for reservations.

The STEM Center Needs Your Help!

The SIUE STEM Center is in need of approximately 60 two-liter soda bottles to use for an outreach event they’ll be hosting.

The event will engage Metro East students grades 3-5 in STEM-related topics, and fuel their excitement for the areas of study!

Casting Calls for Summer Showbiz 2017 Auditions, Feb. 24

The SIUE Department of Theater & Dance announces its annual open auditions for its Summer Showbiz productions.

The auditions will be held on Friday, Feb. 24 in Katherine Dunham Hall, room 2012.

Productions for the season:
Working the Musical, performances June 2 -- 4, June 9 – 11, casting ages 14 and up
Shakespeare’s The Tempest, performances June 23 – 25 and June 30 – July 2, casting ages 16 and up
The Addams Family a New Musical, with performances July 14--16 and July 21 – 23, all roles to be filled by adults except for Lucas Beineke, Wednesday Addams and Addams Ancestors, all 16 and up, and Lurch, 16 and up with a height requirement of at least six feet tall; and Pugsley Addams, 12 and up. All ethnicities are welcome!
