Greetings from the School

I am pleased to announce that in April, I was recommended to be the new Dean of the School of Engineering, and the recommendation was approved by the SIU Board of Trustees in May. I look forward to working with everyone in our engineering community toward the goal of making the SIUE School of Engineering the first choice for both students and employers.

The Board of Trustees helped us make great strides toward this goal when they gave project and budget approval for our Student Design Center. We have raised enough of the $5.7 million needed to complete the first phase of the design: a complete first floor and a shell for the second floor. We, along with a team of dedicated alumni, are working hard to secure the final $1.3 million needed to convert the second floor to a usable space.

I encourage you to find out more about this project and discover how you can help.

I hope you enjoy reading about all the impressive work being accomplished at our School.

Sincerely,
Cem Karacal
Dean
