Kenn Neher, 1945-2017; Was VC Administration
Kenn Neher, of Edwardsville, died Thursday, Oct. 12 at Barnes Jewish Hospital’s Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. He was 72.
Neher served as SIUE’s vice chancellor for administration for nearly 22 years until his retirement in May 2016. Some highlights of Neher’s administration that began in August 1994 include the University’s growth from one residence hall to four, additions to its Engineering and Science Buildings, and expansion of its infrastructure. SIUE also has received national acclaim for its landscaping.
An Air Force veteran of more than 27 years, Neher was a base commander and retired as a colonel.
There will be a service to celebrate Neher’s life at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19 in SIUE’s Morris University Center Meridian Ballroom.
Weber and Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville is managing the arrangements. A private family service will be held at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis.
Donations in Kenn’s name can be made to the SIUE Foundation for the Sculptures on Campus Program, Children’s Home and Aid Society, Saint Louis University Cancer Center or Partners for Pets.
