Off Campus Class Information
SIUE is now providing rental textbooks for all undergrad off-campus classes. All undergrad students enrolled in these class now have access to use rental books provided for them rather than having to find and purchase the textbooks.
IF you are in any of the off campus classes, your student account will be charged a textbook rental fee as published on the University’s Tuition and Fees web site. You may choose to either pick-up your book(s) at Textbook Service or have the book(s) shipped to you, via UPS. If you choose the mailing option, your account will be charged a shipping and handling fee of $10.00 for the first book and $2.00 for each additional book.
In addition, you will be responsible for the shipping cost of returning the rental textbook(s) at the end of the semester unless you elect to personally return the book(s) to Textbook Service.
Options for Obtaining Rented Textbooks:
Have books shipped via UPS:
- Print the off-campus book request form (Download Page).
- Fill form out completely.
- You may call 681-650-2086 or fax to 618-650-5757 with your request (no emails will be accepted).
- It is the student’s responsibility to request the shipping of their book(s).
- Book(s) will be mailed to the address on your request form (NO PO box numbers).
- An automated e-mail confirmation sent to your SIUE e-mail once the book(s) are shipped to you.
- Keep your e-mail confirmation for a checklist to return your book(s) at the end of the semester.
- Your student account will be charged for the shipping and handling fee:
$10.00 for the first book, $2.00 for each additional book.
Pick-up your book(s), in person, at Textbook Service
- Textbook service is located at 200 University Park Drive, Edwardsville, IL (MAP).
- Books may be picked up one week prior to the beginning of the class and throughout the term.
- Before coming to campus, check our office hours.
- You will need your SIUE ID card.
Options for Returning Rental Textbooks:

Edwardsville, IL 62026 - Book(s) must be postmarked by the Saturday of final’s week.
- Use your e-mail confirmation to check to see if you are returning all of your books.
- Mail in a sturdy box to the enclosed address – at your expense.
- Use a delivery confirmation shipping service such as UPS or FEDEX.
- When your books are received, a e-mail confirmation will be sent to your SIUE e-mail.
Personally deliver the book(s) to Textbook Service,
- Textbook service is located at 200 University Park Drive, Edwardsville, IL (MAP).
- Book(s) must be delivered by 5 p.m. the Saturday of final’s week.
- Before coming to campus, check our office hours.
Student’s Responsibility:
- Students are responsible for shipping your rental book(s) back by the due date.
- Textbook Service will not be responsible if a book is lost or damaged in the returning mail.
- Students are responsible for the care and condition of their rental textbook(s).
- The book(s) must be returned in a condition similar to when they were initially rented.
Penalties:
- Any book(s) damaged beyond normal use will be billed to the student’s account.
- If rental textbook(s) are not returned to textbook service, the student's account will be charged for the replacement cost of the textbook(s).
- Books, postmarked after the due date, will also be charged to the student's account.
