Carol B. Dappert began her graphic design career in the Electronics and Space Division of Emerson Electric Co. after graduating from SIUE with a bachelor’s in Studio Art in 1981. After five years, she moved to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri, where she stayed for nearly 20 years. In 1993, while full time at Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carol earned a master’s in Media Communications from Webster University. After a few years of freelance work for a variety of clients—such as the Spark Agency, Missouri Botanical Garden, St. John's Medical Center and Missouri Baptist Medical Center—Carol joined SIUE in August 2008. Carol's print designs have won several Bronze Quill Awards from the International Association of Business Communicators, including one for Web design. Also, Carol won the BlueCHOICE HMO logo competition design selected over those of external advertising agencies.
