The stadium, which seats 3000, is home to both the SIUE soccer and track programs. Bob Guelker Field, named in his honor after he served as soccer coach from 1967-1986, is situated inside an oval track, creating a European-style atmosphere. The track itself is eight 400-meter lanes and is made of the same surface used on the track in two recent Olympic Games.</p> <p>The 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival was held at Korte Stadium, and in July 1998, Jackie Joyner-Kersee competed in a highly televised track and field event hosted in the stadium. Each summer, the Prairie State Games return to the SIUE campus for competitions held in Korte Stadium.
