<h2><!--StartFragment-->Library Anxiety or Frustration<br /></h2>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="font-weight: normal;">Follow these basic steps to relieve frustration and use the Library more successfully:</span></strong></p>
<ol>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Understand the professor’s assignment. Consult with the professor if you have questions. </strong></li>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Allow sufficient time for research and for learning to use the library. This is especially important if you may need to use resources not readily available at Lovejoy Library.</strong></li>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Start early in the semester. Don’t wait until the day before the assignment is due or the last few weeks of the semester for longer assignments.</strong></li>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Come prepared to do research. Bring paper and a pen or pencil. </strong></li>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Be prepared to use a Vendacard or bring change, a computer disk, or flash memory.</strong></li>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Think of alternative words to describe your subject. Seek assistance from the librarian or Information Desk staff, if needed.</strong></li>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Check for misspelling. Catalogs and databases also use variant spellings and words.</strong></li>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Read directions, signs, and help screens.</strong></li>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Understand call number sequence and library locations.</strong></li>
<li><strong style="font-weight: 400;">Ask for help at the Information Desk. If you need additional assistance, ask again.</strong></li>
