Non-SIUE Group Instruction Request

Please read the information on High School Group Policies and Guidelines before submitting this request. In response to SIUE requests, Lovejoy Library does not allow tours during Midterms and Finals Week of each semester. During the first three weeks of each semester, it is less likely that Lovejoy Library staff will be available to assist with a class project due to heavy instruction demands from SIUE students. Questions regarding library instruction should be sent to Lydia Jackson, Instruction and Reference Librarian, or to Matthew Schmitz, Reference and Instruction Specialist.

Library Instruction Sessions

You may also schedule instruction on the following structured sessions.

Guided Tour - Covers library hours, policies, the Information Desk, reference collections, location of materials, microforms, and government documents.

Library Catalog - Covers Library of Congress subject headings, call numbers (how books are arranged), interpretation of the Library's online catalog, and explanation of location symbols.

Journal Presentation - Covers print indexes, electronic indexes, locating periodicals using the online catalog, and location of periodicals.

Research Time - Terminals will be reserved in the Library and staff will be available to assist you.
