How Do I Cite an Article from a Print Reference Work Using APA?

Basic Format
  • Author’s Name. (Date of publication). Title of article.  In Name of editor, Title of reference work.  (Volume information, Inclusive page numbers).  Place of publication: Name of publisher.
A Signed Article in a Reference Work
  • Jamison, L. R. (1994). The disappearing ozone layer. In R. Smith (Ed.), Encyclopedia of Ecology. (Vol. 4, pp. 22-27). Chicago: Wiley.
An Unsigned Article in a Reference Work
  • The disappearing ozone layer. (1994). In R. Smith (Ed.), Encyclopedia of Ecology. (Vol. 4, pp. 22-27). Baltimore: Elsevier.
