The Faculty Technology Center (FTC) provides the university community with innovative support for using technology. The FTC, a division of Library and Information Services, offers a variety of services including web page design, multimedia software development, web course creation and design, graphics creation, digital scanning, CD creation, and DVD creation. The FTC also consults with and provides training for faculty members in all of these areas. In addition, the FTC provides Blackboard, a course management system that helps manage online and web-enhanced courses. Blackboard is used by thousands of SIUE students in hundreds of classes each semester. In addition to these services, the FTC provides system administration, production, and training services for the Luminis Content Management System. Wimba is a collection of online collaboration tools that allows an instructor to personalize online instruction through Blackboard. Live Classroom – Live virtual classroom that creates a sense of community using audio and video to display content such as PowerPoint, application sharing, public and private text chat, electronic whiteboard, and polling.
