What we do

For students living on campus and for students using SIUENET as their Internet service provider, the Student Technology Center also provides:

• Operating system security patches*
• Installation, upgrade, and configuration of virus-, adware-, and spyware-scanning software*
• Web browser upgrade and configuration*
• Network configuration*
• Installation of student-supplied network interface cards or modems*

The Student Technology Center cannot:

• Install or repair hardware other than student-supplied network interface cards or modems
• Install or re-install operating systems such as Windows or Mac OS
• Install, upgrade, or configure software except Web browsers, operating system security patches, and virus-, adware-, and spyware-scanning software
• Recover lost data
• Students needing these services should consult the computer manufacturer's warranty or contact a commercial computer repair service, listed in the Yellow Pages under Computers-Service and repair.

*Because these services may result in the malfunction of your computer, a signed liability release (PDF, 80KB) is required.
