Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants are tools that help entrepreneurs bridge the gap between research and commercialization. Through such programs, efforts are made to ensure that small businesses participate in the nation's research and development enterprise. Many government agencies offer such programs, including those offered in Missouri through MOFAST or in Illinois through the Department of Commerce. Other agencies provide services for enabling the transfer of technological know-how from research to product. In this session, representatives from MOFAST and the Center for Emerging Technology (CET) will discuss SBIR/STTR opportunities and services offered through their programs, and they will highlight challenges and model solutions to successful technology transfer.
