Director, Life Sciences, Saint Louis Science Center Cindy Encarnación oversees the development of the life science programs and exhibits at the Saint Louis Science Center. Most recently, she led the conceptual design and development of the Life Science Lab, one of the most popular spaces in the museum. The Lab offers scientifically authentic educational experiences in the areas of genetics, biotechnology, agriculture, medicine, and health.
Cindy has several sustained partnerships with scientists and educators in the St. Louis region, collaborating on projects such as an exhibit on organ printing, Family Medical School, and Backyard Biofuels, a citizen science project. Her recent partners include the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, Saint Louis University, University of Missouri Columbia, and Washington University in St. Louis. She has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Michigan, and has been with the museum since 1997.
