October 11, at 7 p.m.--Nate Phelps will be speaking in the SSB Auditorium at St. Charles Community College. Nate, the estranged son of Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church, will tell his story of enduring physical, emotional, and psychological abuse as a child raised in the hate-filled theology of his father’s church. He will recount his escape from his father’s home at 18 and his journey from dogma and hate to reason and acceptance, as an outspoken advocate for the LGBT community. October 20 at 7 p.m.-- Charlene Strong will be speaking in the SSB Auditorium at St. Charles Community College. Charlene was thrust into the spotlight after the tragic death of her wife, Kate.
