Suicide & Crisis Training

(The first session will meet at the Willow Room.  All other session dates will be at Call for Help, Inc. at the hotline room.)

Suicide and crisis intervention calls for the Illinois Metro East area are directed to Call for Help, Inc.   Call for Help has a Crisis Counseling and 24-hour hotlines—phone response 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, by trained volunteers and professional staff for those who are suicidal, in a crisis or want to discuss other issues.  SIUE Volunteer Services and Call for Help, Inc. are working together to provide training in the area of crisis intervention to volunteer with Call for Help, Inc. 

Person interested in volunteering with the hot-line need to complete this 40 hour training and Rape & Crisis training. 

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a 24-hour, toll-free suicide prevention service available to anyone in suicidal crisis. If you need help, please dial 1-800-273-TALK (8255). You will be routed to the closest possible crisis center in your area.  Illinois Metro East crisis center is Call for Help, Inc.

These volunteer projects offer an opportunity to explore and become involved in the community, meet new people, and gain community service hours toward completion of the Student Leadership Development Program.

The Training is Free – Advance Registration is required. To receive certification, all session must be attended.
