SIUE Student Leadership Development Program and Volunteer Services is collaborating with American Red Cross Southwestern Illinois Chapter to provide training in case of an emergency or disaster. The training is
free however, advance registration is required. To receive a certification, all sessions must be attended.
Listing of Disaster Classes: Classes are held in Student Success Center Room 1201.
Disaster Services: An Overview
Introductory Course all new volunteers must take to attend any of the other sessions.
Course explains how Red Cross feeds and shelters disaster victims.

Course explains how Red Cross sets up, manages, and closes a shelter

Builds from the Shelter Operations session
Workshop lets participants practice skills learned in that class.
3 Hours/Practical Exercise
Saturday, February 5, 2011, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Client Casework: Providing Emergency Assistance
Instructs volunteers on how the Red Cross provides direct assistance to disaster victims. Volunteers will learn how to interview disaster client and inform the clients about the services available to them through the Red Cross.
