8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Willow Room, 2nd Floor MUC

Rapes in the Illinois Metro East are reported to Call for Help, Inc.’s Sexual Assault Victim’s Care Unit program.  Medical Advocates are sent to the hospitals throughout the Illinois Metro East to advocate for the person who has been raped.

Levora Taylor, Medical/Legal Advocate, Call for Help, Inc.’s Sexual Assault Victims Care Unit, will provide the 40-hour classroom training required by ICASA (Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault) for individuals to become Sexual Assault & Crisis Medical Advocates.  Medical Advocate training covers history, politics, culture, violence, crisis intervention, justice procedures, ER procedures, health issues, Police Officers role, law, legal, and advocacy services.  Following the 40-hour sexual assault crisis intervention classroom training, volunteers are matched up with a trained medical advocate to learn how to provide services at the area hospitals.  Volunteers with this training are also needed to answer the phones and assist at Call for Help, Inc.’s Sexual Assault Victims Care Unit.

These volunteer projects offer an opportunity to explore and become involved in the community, meet new people, and gain community service hours toward completion of the Student Leadership Development Program.  Each person receiving the 40-hour Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Training is required to volunteer for one year.

The Training is Free – Advance Registration Required.

All sessions must be attended.

To register – E-mail Levora Taylor directly at ltaylor@callforhelpinc.org
