Cherokee Nation 2008 Photos

The Cherokee Nation Spring Break Trip 2008 was a change from Bull Hollow and Jay, Oklahoma, to the Loyal Shawnee Tribe at White Oak, Oklahoma.   The students completed a lot of work with spreading 20 tons of rock preparing to lay concrete, spreading mulch on the playground, painting the interior of the tribal headquarters, and cleaning up the area of the Ceremonial Stomp Grounds.  The students accomplished this all in three days.

In the evening, we had the opportunity to share dinner and educational programs with various communities.  On Sunday night, the Loyal Shawnee provided dinner and an over view of the Loyal Shawnee Tribe along with beliefs and customs.  On Tuesday night, a program was provided on American Indian music and eating our favorite, Indian Tacos.   On Wednesday afternoon Thursday, the group toured Will Rogers Museum, Claremore, Oklahoma.  On Thursday morning, the group toured Cherokee Interpretive Center, Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  ( Many of the location listed here are not on the map.  To get to these location you turn at big green trash cans, goats, and through a creek.)
